Kidapawan City  is the capital of Cotabato province. Kidapawan City, aside from its agricultural bounty, is also the trading and commercial center of six adjoining municipalities. Kidapawan City’s original inhabitants were largely Manobos, but the immigration of other ethnicities give the city its current diverse composition.

Kidapawan City waits right at the foot of Mount Apo, the country’s highest peak at 10,311 feet above sea level. Mount Apo is also home to the almost extinct Philippine eagle.
