Candon City Description

Candon City has also a rich historical background just like the other cities here in the Philippines. In its legends, Candon City is derived from the legendary “kandong” tree that is now extinct in the area.

Yuletide celebrations in Candon City dubbed as the country’s tobacco capital, are extremely festive and worth visiting because of its historical and tourist attractions that cannot be found elsewhere.

Candon City Attraction

One of Candon City’s biggest attractions is a 50-foot-tall bamboo tower built in front of the San Juan de Sahagun Parish Church. Inspired by the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, this bamboo tower is fully lighted and draws huge crowds during the holidays. The tower was constructed as part of Candon City’s month-long celebration to commemorate the first Feria de Candon trade fair in Ilocos Sur 115 years ago.

Candon Beach Resort is also another place you can check out in Candon City. There are different well-maintained beaches and swimming pools with nearby cottages and hotels that will surely relieve you from the heat of the sun.

Kids won’t get bored because there are other recreational areas around after the swim. They can play the manageable duckpins while adults play the real bowling games. For Daddies who want to unwind after a stressful day, there’s a pool made for them. Of course, the pool table where they can play along with a bar that serves cold beer.

Candon City Location

Candon City lies between the periphery of the Ilocos Sur strip in the Northern Luzon Region (Region I). It is bounded by municipalities of Santiago and Banayoyo in the North; the rugged terrains of the municipalities of San Emilio, Galimuyod and Salcedo in the East; the sprawling plains of Sta. Lucia in the South; and the immense South China Sea down west.

Candon City is found348 kilometers north of Manila and 62 kilometers south of Vigan, the capital town of Ilocos Sur.
