Cabanatuan City, once the capital of the First Philippine Republic, was where Japanese soldiers in World War II imprisoned many American soldiers of which some had to endure the “Bataan Death March”. Cabanatuan Catherdral in Cabanatuan City was a witness to the ambush of General Antoniono Luna. As the epicenter of the famous 1990 earthquake, Cabanatuan City had a 7.7 rating on the Richter scale.

Cabanatuan City is the transportation services center of Nueva Ecija province. Standing out of a view of green fields about a kilometer away from the city proper is the Cabanatuan City Central Transport Terminal, where numerous buses and jeepneys towards neighboring cities and municipalities are housed.
