Maayong buntag! I was a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Canlaon City, 1962 – 1964.
Wow, that is AGES ago isn’t it? I was 23 – 23 at the time and taught E.S.L. and Science in Canlaon Central School. It was a life-changing time for me and unforgettable. How I would love to revisit there. If you have anyinformation about the current political status in Canlaon (who is mayor? which party rules?) etc. I would be very interested. Is or was Nong, or Nonong Batista ever mayor? Talk to me…

Bayawan City does not belong to Negros Occidental. Bayawan City belongs to the Third District of Negros Oriental.

unta,kay bag-o naman ang mayor karon…..mulambo na unta ang bislig,kay kalooy pud sa mga tao…..nag-antos na lang tawon mi diri sa abroad maski layo sa amo family kay walay ka trabahu-an…ang maka trabaho pa jud sama anang gitawag nga city hall kay mga relatives rah pud sa taga-sulod..hahayyy…..nabantayan lang namu,nagkadugay,nagka-lisod pud ang mga tao diha…..wala ba’y lain alternatives nga buhaton ang government diha-a?

Hi Brian,
Easy to retire here. I have been here for 3 years on a tourist visa. You can get a great girlfriend and cheap living with better quality of life.
My house in Sagada is $200 a month. http://retreat.fasting.ws The retirement visa makes it all easy.
