When in Panglao Beach, boat owners offer their services for island hopping, dolphin watching or snorkeling. Caving is possible in Hinagdanan, an interesting geolocial feature that is also an important water source, Panglao having no river or lake. The seascape in Panglao Beach combines with a landscape of plains, hills and mountains.

Head for Alona Beach for sunrise and Doljo Beach for sunset. While you’re at it, take a trip around Bohol on your own or with a tour guide. Go around Panglao with a rented motorbike – the area’s most common form of transportation. Cover the Chocolate Hills, visit the smallest monkeys (tarsiers), look around Panglao church, tarry at a watchtower, and swing by the man-made forest.

On the cultural side, try “tuba” – the local fermented drink made from coconut sap – a favorite drink of Panglao Beach locals to spice up gatherings or to loosen up after a day’s work. You’d see someone in Panglao Beach climing coconut trees with a bamboo flask tied to waist, gathering sap for this alcoholic drink.

Seafood grill in food stalls along Panglao Beach. There is also at least one organic restaurant in Panglao Beach.

Panglao Beach Location

Panglao Beach is in Bohol province, Central Visayas. To get to Panglao Beach, fly to Tagbilaran domestic airport from Manila. Taxi driver hawk for tourists right outside the airport, soliciting Php300-450 for the 20-minute ride to Panglao Beach. Humble travelers who don’t mind crammed spaces go for mini-buses parked near shops across Bohol Museum. Another way to get to Panglao Beach is to fly to Mactan-Cebu International Airport and catch a speedbaot to Tagbilaran.
